L’Insolite is a beautiful golden white wine, with a nose of ginger, minerality and white-fleshed fruits, such as peach and pear. After some time in the cellar, it may reveal further notes of walnut and hazelnut. It’s made of 100% Chenin Blanc harvested from Saumur Blanc, the appellation for dry, still wines in the centre of the Loire Valley.

This age-worthy white wine was produced by Thierry Germain, a Bordeaux native who made the move to the Loire in 1992. He acquired Domaine des Roches Neuves, which has been part of the Loire landscape since the 1850s and set out to create an incomparable range of premium wine. Thierry is considered to be one of the finest winemakers of his generation and a leader in biodynamic wine production.

Classic notes of Chenin Blanc emerge on the palate - white peach meets sharp notes of grapefruit, ginger and white flowers. The grapes were harvested from a combination of flinty and clay-limestone soils, imparting a bitter, saline character to the finish. L’Insolite is a tense wine, packed with concentrated fruits. It will be at its best when paired with freshwater fish, scallops, or tender game.
