Pure Red is a classically Californian red blend, composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Zinfandel, and smaller amounts of Petite Sirah, Tempranillo and Petit Verdot. It is packed with scents of jammy red fruits, such as cherry, raspberry and plum, with an undercurrent of black pepper spice and sun-soaked leather. The fruits were sourced from estate-owned vineyards in Lodi, a California appellation situated between the Sierra Nevada mountains and the sea.

Oak Ridge has a long, tapestried history in the Lodi area. It has always been run by the Maggio family, who began their winemaking career as grape growers, all the way back in 1928. These days it is run by Rudy Maggio and his three daughters, who brought the winery into the 21st century and began to produce wine under the family name.

Pure Red begins with a ripe core of red fruits, evolving into a nuanced tasting experience, with hints of baking spice, dried herbs, tobacco smoke, oak and raisins. The tannins are round and soft, adding to the wine’s agreeable nature. It is a top-class warm climate red, with all of the characteristics that we have come to expect from sunny California wine. It is perfect for pairing with barbecued meats, soft cheese, or roast poultry.
